Leeds Young Film Festival

The leeds Young Film Festival was a client project. For my animation degree in my second year. We had to animate a gif that could be used to open the fim festival and it had to respent leeds.

This short film was created for The Anijam Cardiff Film Festival, by a group of York St John's students, which I was a part of. This is one scene from it, where the characters are walking with the ship to the launching bay. The background was created by Max who was part of our team and I then inked and coloured the scene and created the walk cycle.

Salt Marsh Mermaid

This was created for the York Art Gallery, my inspiration for this piece was based around where I live in the Fens, which is in the south East of England. I wanted people to see and understand the magic and picturesque landscape that I live in, this particular animation is based on Sutton Bridge which has a salt marsh extending into the Wash and North sea. The character is based on my little sister, it depicts a young girl walking away from the viewer though the seasons starting in winter and ending on a summer's night and turning into a magical surprise

Leeds Young Film Festival

This was created for the Leeds Young Film Festival where we had to do a three to four second GIF. I based my GIF on the Leeds water front merged with the Leeds market building. I wanted Leeds to be recognisable as well as showing a completely different side and view of Leeds that not many people get to see, by making the canal boats my focal point. The boats represent the film candidates arriving in Leeds for the film festival or in this case because of the pandemic, sending their short films to the festival .

This Gif was made for Spectrum First who are a company who provide mentoring for young adults who are on the ADHD spectrum and the Aurstic spectrum, at university. The brief was to make two to three Gifs of a visual representation of a metaphor, so people on the autism spectrum can understand the meaning of the metaphor. This GIF was made for the metaphor It's Raining Cats and Dogs
